SET Chosen By MENSA, The High IQ Society, As A Top Game  How does all of this relate to SET? SET can be considered blocks for a child's mind...not only for a child, but for an adult as well. Set is a very simple game in concept and in play. It is very easy to learn, but far more mentally challenging than it appears! It will challenge a group of children, a group of adults, and if a famliy plays it together...it will challenge everyone. I played it earlier today with my wife, and our eleven year old daughter. Who won? Our eleven year old daughter, who became a little too cocky afterwards...kids, don't you hate it when they beat you in a game? As I said earlier, basic game play is simple. You lay out twelve cards face up on a table. You look at the cards, and the first person to spot a set calls out "set" and then shows the set they found. You keep examining the cards until everyone agrees there are no more sets, and you add an additional three cards to the table and begin searching for a set once again. This is a game which will test, challenge, and help develop your child's perception skills. SET makes you concentrate and to think logically. It is wonderful brain-food, and fun to play. We really love this game, we think you will too, and we recommend it very highly. Okay, you want to know how do you play. And what exactly is a set? Well, once you get the hang of it, it is pretty easy to play. The instructions which come with the game are much better than the explanation we have below. The game comes with good examples of what are sets, and what are not sets. After a few minutes you will be ready to play, or teach your child the game (or perhaps, if your children are like mine, they will teach you the game). But we will try and explain it to you anyway. In fact, we have a picture of the cards below, and we will play a game with you in a second! Each card has from one to three symbols on it...oval, squiggle or diamond. The symbols can be one of three colors...purple, green or red, and finally the symbol may be outlined, filled in or striped. A set consists of finding three cards which have exactly the same characteristics for a given category, or completely different features on it for a given category. In other words, the three cards must meet all of the following conditions:
In the above picture there are a number of sets. For instance, the three purple ovals make a set because they are all the same color, they are also all the same shape, they also all have only one oval on the card, and they all have different shadings! colors=all same
Remember, each category must be exactly the same or completly different! Another set in the above picture would be the one filled in purple squiggle with the two green filled in ovals with the three filled in red diamonds. They are a set because each card is a different color, each card has a different shape, each card has a different number of symbols on it, and they all have the same shading. colors=all different

It has won numerous awards and we have yet to find anyone who wasn't challenged by it (child or adult). If you are looking for a game that will stimulate your child's thinking process, that you can play as a family, that is both challenging and fun...then SET is for you! By the way, SET cards are a very nice quality card. They come packaged in a plastic storage tray with lid.
