Once the child has mastered shape sorting it is time to move on to color recognition...place all the red rings on the cylinders, place all the blue rings on the cylinders, etc. Then shape recognition...place all the rings on the square cylinder, place all of the rings on the circular cylinder, etc. Then you can try having the child to fill the cylinder that takes three rings, fill the cylinder which takes five rings, etc. And when the child is really advanced use the set to teach fractions...whole, half, third, etc. As we said, this set has more to it than meets the eye. It can be used as a simple shape sorter, which will also help develop motor skills in the youngest user, but if you are an educator or a concerned parent who will be working with your child, this is a great toy for teaching and bonding with your child.
