Not all wooden puzzle boards are made alike! The Geometric Puzzle Board comes with five colored shapes and a board which has a home for each shape. If used alone by a child it is a simple shape sorter, but if a teacher or a concerned parent works with the child, this classic toy can help develop color recognition, geometric recognition, counting skills and shape sorting. To use this toy to its fullest potential means using some imagination, and working with the child. Unfortunately, the toy does not include any ideas or work sheets for the parent. But we will provide you with a few ideas to get you started! Use this toy as a simple shape sorter. Let the child learn to place the pieces in the correct cut-outs on the board by his or herself. Once the child has mastered shape sorting it is time to move on to color recognition...place all the pieces off to the side and ask he child to place the red piece on the board, the blue, green, etc. Then comes shape recognition...place the square piece on the board, place circular piece, oval, etc. As we said, this set is a classic educational toy.
