MADELINE BIRTHDAY CAKE

Here are two great Madeline cake ideas from our friend Laurie from California.  To make a special Madeline Birthday Party for her daughter Michaela, she tapped our web site for ideas and then added some of her own. She agreed to share her recipe for a successful Madeline Birthday Party with you. Talk about imagination and ingenuity!

Thanks Laurie!

Mdeline Cake!

I just read on your web site ideas for a Madeline party. My daughter had one and I thought I'd share what I did for her party with you. It turned out great!

I used the picture of Madeline from your picture of the Madeline birthday card.

It was just the right size and worked perfect for several things. I used it to make invitations as well as to decorate a cake.

I wrote the invitations in the Madeline form, as best as I could:
In a house on Sonora Place that welcomes you to their door
Lives one little girl who is turning four
Sunday, November 1 at 1:00 PM is the time to come to her party please.
The number is 555-5555 for RSVP's.
It's all for Michaela and it wouldn't be complete,
Unless you came for fun and to eat!

I used blue and yellow paper goods. I made a couple of cakes because the party was for adults as well as children and wasn't sure if one cake would be enough. The first cake I made was a hat cake and it turned out great.

You use a pizza pan that has a lip around it, plus a pyrex bowl. Fill the pizza pan about half way up, then put the rest of the batter in the pyrex bowl. Bake them both. Ice the flat cake in yellow icing, then cut the top part of the pyrex cake to be flat, then turn it over onto the middle of the flat cake, and you have Madeline's hat! Ice the bowl part of the hat in yellow also.

I got some black ribbon, about 1/2" wide and made a bow like Madeline's. It was a huge hit with the little girls and the adults.

Then I just made a sheet cake. I cut out one of the Madeline figures from your birthday card and used it on the cake.

I iced the cake in white, laid the picture in the  middle and lightly
pressed it onto the cake.

Then I wrote Happy Birthday on the cake. It looked great. It actually looked like those edible decals they make for cakes!

Both cakes were darling and perfect for a Madeline party. I ordered the stickers and [other items] from you, and used those for the party favors!

I took the dolls that both of my daughters have, and used them for decorations.

Then I bought the small 3-D puzzle of the Eiffel Tower [no longer available]  and put each of my daughter's 8" Madeline dolls on either side of the Eiffel Tower for the center piece on the table! It was a perfect party!

There are lots of things you can do to have a great Madeline party...for lunch, I served croissant sandwiches and mini quiches to give the lunch a French flair!

Just thought I'd pass along my success story for a great Madeline party! And I wouldn't buy my Madeline things from anyone but you!

Love your selection and prices!
