On this page you will find a little background information about Schoenhut pianos, but if you like, you can jump to the various Schoenhut (and other) toy pianos we feature by clicking here! We currently sell a variety of toy pianos including Table Top pianos, Baby Grand pianos, Upright pianos, Day Care And School Durable toy pianos and a Limited Edition Schoenhut piano for collectors!

There is something about a toy piano that is magical. Although they are musically accurate, they have a distinctive sound you don't get from any other instrument. Children and adults are drawn to toy pianos. They are even used in classical concerts from time to time! Unfortunately, in this age of electronic keyboards the toy piano has taken a back seat. And that is a shame because there is no comparison between the two. The toy piano is a classic instrument which every child should experience. At Live And Learn we feature toy pianos from various sources including the leader in the industry...Schoenhut!

Schoenhut has been making toy pianos for over 125 years! For decades, the names Schoenhut and Jaymar (their main competitor) meant Toy Piano. And during the 1950's the two toy piano companies finally merged. Since then, some of their pianos carry the Schoenhut name and some the Jaymar name.

It is Schoenhut's attention to quality that is the difference and has established them as the product leader throughout the world. Schoenhut is a family owned business and they take extreme pride in their products. All of their products are pre-tested and researched to assure you receive a top-grade toy piano.

Every Schoenhut piano is chromatically-tuned. And they feature full-sized width piano keys (yes, full size keys) so the transition from toy piano to real piano will be seamless. The keys strike precision-ground, steel German music wires to produce the exceptional sound and tone quality you get from a Schoenhut toy piano.

A look inside a Schoenhut piano

But please understand, quality does not come cheap! These pianos normally retail in the $100.00 to $700.00 range. We have done our best to keep your cost down by reducing the retail price of all the pianos we sell. They say, you get what you pay for. Although that statement is not always true, with Schoenhut pianos you actually get more than you pay for!

We know this sounds like a lot of commercial hype, but it is not! When we decided to consider these pianos as part of our product base we received one of their Baby Grand pianos to test. The first thing we noticed was the careful attention the company gave to packaging the piano for shipment. It arrived in a sturdy, well cushioned carton. After we set up our piano we couldn't believe we were looking at a toy piano!

By the way, setting up the piano was a breeze. It only took a few minutes and did not require any tools. In fact, it was so easy to assemble, our 7 year old tester helped us set the piano up. And after setting up the piano, our tester just wanted to play the piano the rest of the day!

Since receiving the piano our two testers (7 years old and 11 years old) are constantly tinkling the keyboard. The 7 year old uses one finger to play all the songs in the book, and the two handed 11 year old decided she now wants to take piano lessons! We did not get this reaction when they were put in front of electronic keyboards. Yes, there is something magical about toy pianos!
